A Vintage Robin Christmas

Yes, I know . . . it is a bit early to be starting Christmas cards (or even “wintery” cards) as seeing Spring has finally arrived here in the Midwest.  But when I saw this image “A Robin’s Christmas” by Stitchy Bear, I knew I had to make a card from it and use some of my papers from The Paper Temptress with it.

When I first saw this image, I thought it would look great in a sepia/vintage tone and then just color the front two images (the Christmas Tress and robin). So the first thing I did was open the image into my photo software and change the “photo effects” to a sepia tone (major aged).  (If you don’t have photo software, you can also do this in MSWord2010 or newer by formatting the picture lines to a light brownish orange.)  I then printed the image onto Iridescent 89# Cryogen White paper from The Paper Temptress. . . even though it says “white”, it looks more creamy to me.  I used this paper because it does have an iridescent look (shimmer) to it . . . though it is hard for me to get a good picture of it.

The next step was to color the front two (2) images with my Distressed Markers (Bundled Sage, Barn Door, Tea Dye & Wild Honey)  . . . my Copics put too much color down for the effect I was trying to achieve.  Then using Liquid Pearls in watermelon, I finished the ornaments on the tree . . . it helped give the image a bit more texture.

After it was dry, I used White Crepe (Ruche) and Dark Chocolate Mica/Metallic paper
from The Paper Temptress . . . both of these gave the card more texture and
worked GREAT with the vintage look I was wanting.

If you would like to see another card I did this past week using paper from The Paper Temptress, you can check it out on my blog at UpintheNightwithKat.blogspot.com . . . I now use paper from The Paper Temptress on almost all my projects. 🙂

Till the next time I’m up in the night.  Kathy
