Cathi here with a patriotic card in honor of the 4th of July! Yes, I live in Ireland now, but was born and bred in Maryland right outside of Washington DC! This card is for my parents, it is great to be nostalgic sometimes!
I just love to use vintage images with my cards, and chose the gorgeous Paper Temptress Incandescent paper in Blumarino, Rosso, and Candido to make my red white and blue card! Just look at the amazing metallic sheen these papers have!
I started by cutting the Rosso paper 7 inches by 10 inches, using my score board to score a fold in at the 5 inch mark to make a 5×7 card. This paper is good and sturdy for a card base. I then used the Couture Creations Fresh and Fun Large Powder Puff embossing folder. I thought the shapes reminded me of stylized fireworks and it was a perfect backdrop for my image. I cut a slit into the fold of the card to lace some ribbon through.
I decided to make some rolled flowers to decorate the card. To make my rolled flowers I used a small flower die and cut a spiral into each of them, rolling and securing the flower and adding a pearl in the center of my flowers. I then used a gorgeous flourish die cut that reminded me of fireworks as well!
I matted my vintage image onto the beautiful Candida Incandescent paper die cut into a scalloped rectangle. I used all three colors to make my rolled flowers and then added gorgeous flourishes using the Blumarino paper. I tied the bow around the card, added the sentiment and glued the flowers and flourishes into place.
Thanks so much for looking!!
