Halloween Spooktacular Banners for Special Needs Children, a giveaway, and a Sale!

A couple of months ago I joined the Facebook Group  Halloween Banners for Special Needs Children which does pretty much what the title of the group suggest, it makes Halloween Banners for Special Needs Children that are then sent to an amazing facility in Pennsylvania. I am not sure how many of you know that I am a grandmother to a “special needs child”.  That term means a lot to me since I translate it this way….Nathaniel is an amazing and extremely special little boy and our family truly needs him in our life’s!  Nathaniel was born 10 weeks early and spent 3 long months in the hospital,   a hospital very similar to the wonderful facility that we are making these banners for.  The day that Nathaniel was born I  knew that our life’s were soooo truly blessed!  He shows us everyday what really matters in life and all the little “interruptions” in life are just not that important!  He ALWAYS has a huge smile on his face and is the only child I have ever known that truly can make you feel like you are the only person in his world!  He brings pure joy to our life’s.

No one was ever sure if he would ever walk but now at the age of 6 we are very sure that he will be walking all the time within a year because he NEVER gives up!  He is walking across the room now and will as I said soon be walking all the time due to his pure determination.  It isn’t easy for him but when he falls he just laughs and then  gets right back up and does it again.  Now when he falls he tells us all not to help him, he says I’ve got it and shoos us away!  He is at that age now LOL!

Well as you can tell I could go on and on forever talking about this amazing child but let’s get back to the reason for this post!  Also at the end of the post you will find out how to enter the giveway with 5 other sponsors plus a $25 GC from PaperTemptress.com and a great sale being offered this Labor Day weekend at PaperTemptress.com!

Welcome to the annual Halloween Spooktacular Banner Hop for Special Needs Children!

I am delighted to join with more than 3 dozen other women who have each made at least one Halloween-themed banner that will be donated to hang in the room of a medically-fragile child at Pediatric Specialty Care in Pennsylvania.

Our Hop Hostess (Ellen CardMonkey Jarvis) works at PSC’s Bucks County site as Admissions Coordinator. The Banner Hop starts there, so please be sure to circle back to the beginning to see all of the terrific banners have been made for these very special children.

Ellen shared this information with us about Pediatric Specialty Care: “PSC is a very special place where children stay either long- or short-term, typically after hospitalization.  Most are dependent on ventilators and other technology to survive. Some have been born too early or with genetic diseases or birth injuries.  Other children suffer injuries later in life that require constant care later, including brain injuries from trauma or loss of oxygen (from choking, suffocation or drowning) and spinal cord injuries.

These children and their families — and PSC’s staff — will be thrilled to receive the Halloween banners, to help brighten the season when their friends and siblings will be out trick-or-treating.”

Here is the banner I am sending to a child at PSC:

I know it isn’t a “banner” but I have a special place in my heart for that baby in a crib. I used Hambly Studio’s Orange Mod Circles cut out with my amazing Silver Bullet Digital Cutter to create the scalloped circles. I always stash packing materials that are unusual. The top of the mobile is actually a chipboard piece that I kept from some new dishes that I purchased….never knew where or when but always knew I would use it 🙂 Sure glad I kept it when designing this mobile!

This Hop is two days (Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2), and on each day you will see different banners.
