Grandson’s valentine card

2012’s New Year’s resolution was to start using ALL of my supplies and products.  I hate to admit it but my passion was becoming more collecting tools and supplies then designing and that needs to change but it’s sooooo hard……Have you seen all the new stuff that is coming out at CHA….what’s a girl to do???  So in trying hard to keep my resolution I am making cards for every occasion just to be making cards.  There was a conversation the other day on one of my yahoo groups about using pattern paper.  I LOVE pattern paper and have bought some this year and just never end up using it.  I much prefer making my own backgrounds since one of the items I LOVE to collect is background stamps and am really getting back into embossing which just makes everything look better, don’t you agree????   Which is a great segway into the valentine’s card I made for my oldest grandson who is soon to be 7.

Started with my new Spellbinder’s Edgabilities. I should actually call them the old spellbinder’s since they have had another release since these dies. A release might I add that I am drooling all over and really really trying hard not to buy it all) so that helps meet my resolution. Next was an  OLD fiskar’s border punch which really helps me meet my resolution since it is very old and hardly used.  Then the  swirly background was made with one of my new favorite Hero Art Clings that I just got.  Love that stamp!  Next to last I used some of the letter stickers from the Echo Park Be Mine collection.   Not sure where the chipboard hearts came from but loved the way they looked and they were in my stash that HAS to start being used.  Did I do good using old supplies?????  Yep I think so at least LOL!

Oh let’s not forget the cardstock that I used LOl!  The red mat with the hearts cut out is the Wild Cherry 100# Pop Tones (as you can see it punched out beautifully and easily).  The scalloped borders and the swirled back ground is the Cryogen White (can u see the really light sparkle?).  The card base is also another favorite of mine the White Grandee which is an amazing heavy weight piece of textured cardstock.  You all know I HATE flat so like to add a lot of texture to my designs.

I also want to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day, hug your honey!  BTW….why don’t you pull out those old tools and supplies and see if you can use incorporate them into your designs today!
