Naughty or Nice? Christmas Card

This was soooooo much fun to make – there was no way I could resist this super cute little stamp when I saw it – it reminded me way too much of my own kittens.  The very first Christmas that we had our new kitties I put out our small table Christmas tree (as I have done for years) – it did not occur to me that this might be seen as romping good fun until far too late!  We woke up the next morning to a loud crashing noise and raced out of the bedroom to find that a couple of ‘someones’ had been playing and accidentally knocked over the tree.  Thinking that this was a one time thing (and since nothing was broken) back up went the tree – ‘sigh’ I’m a slow learner, over the next week it became a regular sight to see one or both cats laying on their backs under the tree batting at the baubles, attacking the tinsel and running off with the sparkly strands in their mouth.  While my tree and decorations are no longer in quite the same condition they once were, it sure was lots of fun to watch – now they only attack the Christmas wrapping and ribbon on the presents :O)

What I used:

Ornament Kitty Dec 25 from StampIt

What I did:

  1. Stamp images onto smooth white scrap card using Memories Black ink.
  2. Colour both images using Water Brush and markers (scribble marker onto plastic and pick up colour with water brush and ‘paint’ with marker colour), this technique gives really pretty results.
  3. When completely dry, add Glossy Accents over the Dec 25 image and over the Christmas bauble, while Glossy Accents is still wet, sprinkle in a touch of fine pale glitter.
  4. Trim images to size and mount onto Lagoon card, edge images with black glaze pen to mimic stitching and edge lagoon layer with black Copic marker.
  5. Trim Grape card to card front size and fold in half.
  6. Trim Laser Lustre card to size and lay flat, spritz lightly with Fireworks sprays and a very small amount of Dylusions – let sit for 30 seconds and pat off liquid with paper towel (will leave stained colour but will not obscure card underneath).  Let dry completely and edge with Black Copic marker.
NB:  I have no idea how to describe how beautiful the combination of sprays looks over the Silver Lustre card – oh my goodness it is glorious.  All I can do, is say try it for yourself because WOW!  Even better you can still see the original card and the pattern on it underneath.
  7. Adhere cat panel to laser lustre on an angle, glue ribbon to bottom of card and glue ’25 Dec’ panel towards bottom right hand side.
  8. Add pearls and snowflake brads and mount front panel onto Grape base card.

Now all that’s left is to sit back and enjoy the gorgeous colours!
