Sharon Briss: PaperTemptress Papers Ideal for CAS Cards

Isn’t Autumn just glorious?  All the great warm and earthy colors!  It’s the perfect time to Fall in love with PaperTemptress’ great Brawny and Treasures cardstocks.

I’ve only recently started making cards in the Clean and Simple (CAS) style and I wouldn’t have even attempted it without the fabulous range of papers in Patricia’s store.  I live for contrasts, color and texture so CAS-style cards left me feeling like I had forgotten to add something vital to my design.  PaperTemptress papers, however, never disappoint with all their inherent extra flair and style.  Now, I can make great CAS cards with fabulous rich texture while maintaining a crisp clean design.

With the first card, I used some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White for my image.  This paper works so well with alcohol-ink based markers like my Copics because it creates such smooth transitions in the color.  I matted my image with Goldenrod Treasures cardstock and added some contrast with Tuscan Sun from the Brawny Line.  I love the rich color of these two lines and the quality of their weight.  Patricia has great starter packages for both of these cardstocks.  I mounted everything on some Solar White Skinny Columns paper which has a crisp white color with a wonderful and elegant texture.

To finish off, I added some gold Decandent Dancer Ribbon which gave some great sparkle and picked up on the various deep yellow hues of the cardstock.  Isn’t it just too yummy?

The result was a CAS card that was anything but simple even though it was quick and easy!

Stamp: Quilted Pumpkin (Serendipity)

My second card is also nice and simple using Heavenly White and Rosso Incandescent.  Here again I found that with the Clean and Simple style, PaperTemptress cardstocks are the only way to go.  They add interest without adding distraction.  They add texture without adding cumbersome layers.

I made the card base from Heavenly White and used this same awesome cardstock to stamp my simple image from Rogue Redhead’s Relish Reading plate.  I always get such wonderfully sharp impressions using Heavenly White! It’s a dream!

I then added some fabulous 5/8″ Splitz ribbon.  I love this ribbon as it’s kind of rogue itself – it has grosgrain on one side and satin on the other!  To finish off, I matted my image on Rosso Incandescent which has a fabulous sheen and lovely flecks of gold which twinkle and seem to rise up from the page.  That’s it!  Two circles, one piece of  ribbon and some ink and you have a nice impactful card.  All thanks to the amazing cardstock of PaperTemptress!

Hope you enjoyed these CAS cards and I hope you try some yourself with PaperTemptress’ great range of cardstocks and specialty papers.
