Every year after Christmas I swear I’ll make next years Christmas cards all year long. Then, I end up buying some because I don’t follow through! Anyone else out there feeling the same way as the holidays come barreling towards us? ;D
This year I’m going to get them done! Here’s my plan:
1) Keep them clean and simple.
2) Use good quality card stock. (your cards will have that nice ” polished” look)
3) Cut back on the fussy patterned paper.
4) Use stamps that need very little coloring
Here is an example of the fun little cards I’m working on assembly line style:
I did play with this one. ;D When I finished the card I thought it needed a little something more. So I pulled out my Ranger Perfect Pearls shimmering powder and just dusted it over the entire card. I was happily surprised at how well the brown bag kraft card stock’s “toothy” texture held onto the shimmery powder. Look at the top right hand part of the card… in real life the entire card sparkles just like that! My smooth Heavenly White card also held on to the Perfect Pearls very well!
The beautiful Merry Christmas can be found at Layers of Color Art Stamps. It’s from the newly released stamp set “Christmas Verses”. As for the snowman, I colored him just a bit with Copics. I have no idea where he came from….maybe Michael’s $1 bin years ago!
My challenge to you is to relax, don’t worry about layers of patterned papers, just enjoy keeping it clean and simple. Get those Christmas cards done! ;D
