Hands and Hearts Layout–NAChattin

This two page layout was created on 8” by 8” card stock for a theme album. The variety of card stock at Paper Temptress gives the designer the freedom to create with abandon. The design keys on this layout are the use of 3-color palette and creating a contrast with choices of card stock and elements.

Torn Paper Overlay Frame

Basic Premise—Instead of placing a mat behind your photo, create an overlay frame that sits on top of your photo by removing the center of your cardstock

Key Ingredient—Double sided card stock (text weight works best for tearing but heavier weights will work too)

Process:

  1. Cut a piece of card stock sized 2-3 inches larger than your photo
  2. Trace the edges of your photo onto the back side of the card stock
  3. Cut a small X in the center of your sketched area and cut with a craft knife
  4. Starting from the X tear out the center of the card stock around 3 of the edges

(Tip—tear just under your sketch line)

  1. Leave excess paper on one edge and fan fold it on the outside of the frame
  2. Glue fan folds together and accent with embellishments such as the fabric flower and wire stem used here
