Let’s watercolor

I have been totally taken by making stamps look like watercolor drawings.  As a person that cannot draw a stick, I love the idea that I can stamp something that resembles a watercolor drawing.  The wonderful HQ Watercolor Cotton Paper takes the color beautifully.  I guess I should explain the process in case some have never tried this.  I put my paper in a stamp positioner and then took water based markers and applied them to the stamp.  I worked on one color at a time.  You have to work sort of quickly so the marker does not dry out on the the stamp.  Right before I am ready to stamp I huffed on the stamp and then applied it to the paper. When you are done stamping you lightly wet a watercolor brush and go over the stamped lines.  I did the reddish color on the flower and stamped that and then did the green in the leaves.  I did this image twice, so I could cut out the second one and layer it.  I also used stickles and smooch on the center of the flower .  This stamp is made by Penny Black.  The base card is made from the wonderful Brown Bag cardstock.  The green layer is also from the Brown bag series and is called  Olive Brown Bag.  The dark brown accent is Cappacino Sorbet

The second card that I decided to do is also on the Watercolor Cotton Paper.  This scene is from a stamp set from Theresa Momber and manufactured by Gina K. Designs.  All the stamps here are individual stamps and I made this scene. The pretty green mat is Basis Green.  If you haven’t tried anything like this I would suggest giving it a try, because I had a lot of fun with it.  It made me start looking at some of my stamps in a whole different way.
