A day to remember

Today we think of those who have gone and treasure our freedom even more because of the price it exacts from many. I hope that each of you will wear red, or white or blue today in honor of those who serve our country, and those who have died . The sound of freedom is sometimes bitter sweet.

Papertemptress has put together a package of patriotic papers. Perhaps this month you could make a card or two and find a hero to support with your efforts.

I created this card as a simple and meaningful card to remember 9-11. I have two children living in New York city and the stories still touch everyone in that great city and in this country.

The stamp is from the  tourist souvenir shop in the Empire State Building – not much of a stamp but has a wood cutout of the statue of liberty as a handle. It is not deeply etched, so I had to stamp it several times before I got a clear image, but I still think it is a perfect tribute.

Paper notes:  Heavenly White –  punched stars. Has a smooth surface and is thin enough for my somewhat touchy punch

Blue Vellum – I love tearing vellum and find that the easiest way to attach it is with a brad

Laser Red Glossy Luster – has a wonderful subtle stripe, bright warm red color and a lovely shine

Patriotic Paper Pack – a generous sampling of red white and blue papers in a variety of textures and weights.

>^,,^<  Hope my sample tempted you to try these pretty papers!               cat
