Paper Temptress card stock is meant to be experienced rather than merely viewed. This little mini-book packs a big “wow factor†with the use of nine different Paper Temptress products.
The glorious opportunities to touch caress, and experience the appeal of textures and colors will delight the artist and the recipient of this whimsical project.
The book assembly is a very simple process that my 7-year old neighbor can complete with very little guidance. I first made one of these in 2003 when my friend Mary Lawrence gave me one as a gift. After teaching this book as an Artful Tourist workshop for many years, I’ve seen it take varied forms but none were ever as beautiful as this version—thanks to the Paper Temptress.
The interior of the book (signatures) are made by folding Olive Brown Bag text weight. Since this paper is double sided, it automatically ads interest to the design. The weight is sturdy enough to serve as the interior yet allows easy scoring and folding.
The covers are cut slightly larger than the interior pages using Tuscan Sun. Previous versions of this book involved cutting the covers from chipboard and wrapping them in text weight card stock, however, the 100lb Tuscan Sun was more than strong enough to serve on its own.
The tags inside the book are designed to be pulled out and enjoyed which isn’t hard to do when they are created from Candido card stock, more Tuscan Sun, and Cream Velvet touche , and Whip Cream CS.
The diverse selection of card stock at Paper Temptress enables you to create most of the embellishments for this project without spending a fortune on costly “doo-dads and sprinkles.â€Â Grab your stamps, punches, and die cuts to create wonderful accents that take your work to the next level while using some of your smaller scraps in the process.
Paper accents from PT products here include:
Stardream Gold CS: Sun Punch on cover
Crème Velvet Touche: boy shape on cover, Poem words tag 1, dog face on page 2, dog laying down on tag 2, word play on tag 2
Crystal Clear–sitting dog on cover and dog laying down on tag 2

Techniques and Design
This book was created to be a Father’s day gift from my dogs to my husband; hence the use of the dog stamps from InkaDinkaDo™. The dogs may have gotten a bit of help from “Mom†in writing the poem on the first tag that set the theme for the whole project which reads: “Lazy days or out to play, ruff days and every way—we love you Dad.†The next three tags follow the theme of the poem focusing on the words play, lazy, and ruff. The back cover says “Paw Made†by Daisy and Drexel.
You can explore all kinds of techniques with this project. I used watermark stamping, heat and dry embossing, die cuts, shimmering ink sprays, punches, inked edges, distressing, digital printing, rubber stamps, gel pens, pigment powders, eyelets, charms, torn edges, and distressing.
Just by changing the colors, weights, and textures of card stock this book could be the only design I ever posted to the blog and it would look completely different every time.
Additional samples of previous designs and more info on techniques and products will be posted on my web site at www.NAChattin.com in the coming weeks.
