The same…… but different- Shelly Schmidt

Hi- I am Shelly Schmidt and love Paper Temptress products- so was so thrilled to be accepted on the Design Team.  I have been stamping for about 15 years, and started from not knowing anything about stamping at all.  My Mom is an artist, and I had always been frustrated at my lack of artistic abilities, so went crazy when I discovered stamps……the drawing was done for me!   I have a love for trying new techniques and so enjoy being a subscriber to the Technique Junkies newsletters. Today I tried something different- a 3-D project with different papers from Paper Temptress….

I found a post by Mel McCarthy and was inspired by the paper to try a purse.  I decided to use one of her prior templates for this fun purse. The purses hold note cards- the size varies depending on your purse size.  I printed out the Damask image on Lustre (in silver) cardstock- and I also printed out a sheet on text weight as well.  I reduced the template 78%.  I used the text weight Damask for the 3×3 card top.

The inside of the note card is white. I will also includes an envelope for each card.  I used Black Licorice Poptones cardstock to add accent to the Damask pattern.

I LOVE LOVE pink- try as I may, I always gravite towards it……..The pink Rose Quartz is from the Mica/Metallic line.  It is wonderful and beautifully shimmery. I used the Scorepal and scored lines in the cardstock and added pink rhinestones. The flowers are colored with Copic markers in R81, R83 and R85 and I added a decorative brad with a rhinestone in the center.  The image on the cards is a freebie Awareness  digital image from McMahon Five Designs.

Here is a look at the cards close up- I tried to capture the shimmer, and the pink and white card shows the contrast to plain white cardstock.

Finally, I made a black purse out of plain black cardstock called Poptones.  It is plain cardstock- but with scoring and adding pearls and red roses, it looks dressy, doesn’t it???

I used the Starglaze gelly roll pen to add shimmer to the butterfly that I printed on Neenah Solar White and  colored with Copic markers.I put the red cardstock through the crimper and added shimmer to that with the pen  as well.

It was fun to create these projects. If you would like to see more projects I have made with Paper Temptress cardstock, you can go to my BLOG and click on Paper Temptress in the Labels  list.

Have a great day!
