I got my kicks on route 66!

johnscarcard1 My daughter’s friends birthday was on Saturday and since he really enjoys cars I designed this card for him. I make it no secret that I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Laser Silver Lustre. It is just an amazing looking paper that just loves ink. Ink “slips” under the surface and projects a holographic effect like no other cardstock. I loved how simple and easy this striking background was.  It took me about 1 minute to make the background and it is AMAZING looking IRL! The background stamps are from Artistic Outpost.  I grew up about a mile from Route 66 and traveled it very often so this stamp set brought back a lot of memories.   The Camaro is from Cornish Heritage Farms and colored with copics on PT’s Heavenly White (which is heavenly when used with copics since it doesn’t bleed at all)!  I attached both images with Pop Up Foam Squares so they added another 3D effect to the design. hp1I wanted to show you just how cool the Silver Laser Lustre prints too. The Happy Birthday was printed on my laser printer which ended up being a very interesting effect since the toner ink didn’t slip under the surface like all other inks do but rested on the top (like all ink does on all other papers) and the lettering and the border showed  thru with the silver stripes.  Now the photo shows the stripes more then in real life due to the flash but in real life the black seems to cover  the stripes so the only stripes that you saw were where the black wasn’t.  My daughter had my flip camera so I wasn’t able to record it but I am not sure if it would have been more apparent even on the video.  You are going to have to trust me on this one, you HAVE to play with this paper!!  And believe it or not it looks better with an ink jet printer since the ink does slip under the surface with the ink jet pigment ink. A sheet of the cover and text weight is available in the Silver Lustre Package which is the paper package I am donating to every person who donates $10 to any charity for the tragedy in Haiti.  Just email me some kind of receipt, either an email that you received as a confirmation, a credit card bill (with all pertinent information blacked out, and I will send  you a Silver Lustre package so it is a win win situation.  Give and Get, what more can you ask for?
