Mel here, with a funky little shaped-box template & pictorial to share with Ya.
I wanted to add a whack of embossing, beading, and stitching to this box. (I think the sewing took a couple of days, LOL.) The Paper Temptress Kraft cardstock embossed & held up to all that stitching & beading beautifully:
The box is also lined, with Black ‘Velvet Touch’ Cardstock, which has an incredible feel and velvety-suede look. Something that scrumptious seems like it shouldn’t be so practical, but it is fabulously sturdy!
A) Print & cut out the box template-two times onto kraft cardstock (one box template will create the box & one will be cut apart to make panels that you can easily emboss in a Cuttlebug folder.)
B) To make the liner, trace the top of the box template onto black velvet touch cardstock:
Step 2) Add indications of where to score the black liner: make marks on the black liner with a white pencil (where the dotted scorelines are).
Step 3) Roughly cut out the liner (to prepare for scoring).
Step 4) Line up score-line marks & score them.
Step 5) Score the liner again for a better fit: Score a second time to one side of your original score lines (this will widen the previous scorelines on the liner and help it to fit better.) You might want to repeat this process later when you dry fit the liner. :o)
You’ll end up with doubled or even tripled scorelines on the liner.
Step 6) Finish cutting out (inside pencil line).
Step 7) Create the Kraft panel pieces for the outside of the Kraft box:
A) Cut out panels from the second kraft template you printed
B) Lay out panel pieces-to determine which sides to cuttlebug (The pieces are shown here on the black liner to show you with contrast, but they’re stuck to the kraft box…)
Step 8 ) Cuttlebug emboss the panel pieces (this is Provo Craft’s Floral Screen).
Step 9) Adhere the Cuttlebug embossed pieces to the box.
Step 11) Pierce & Bead around the image.
Step 12) Pierce around the cuttlebugged panel pieces.
Step 13) Stitch around the Cuttlebug embossed pieces.
Step 14) Pierce along the top (for stitching on beads).
Step 15) Bead along the top of the box.
Step 16) Assemble the box (on the side-leaving bottom open).
Step 17) Continue cutting & dry fitting liner until you like the fit.
(The 3 feet for this were made with sculpting foam from CTMH
& coloured with a black Sharpie, glued on with Tombow Monomulti)
