Big Flower in Black and White

I had a great time making this great big flower card! I tried a couple new and different things with a few of the PT stocks, so here is my review of each and how I made this card.

I started with Plastic touch Black cardstock which I die cut at a local scrapbook store. I loved the scallops and thought it would be great with this sheet. The Plastic touch cuts like butter!! I backed it up with a little scrappy strip of Leather White. Aren’t they just wonderful together??

Next, I stamped a gorgeous flourish stamp (Close To My Heart) with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Retro Silver Lustre text weight paper and cut it with a Sizzix floral die cut. I felt this was the real “test” with this paper because remember, it’s text weight and I used a die that made long thin cuts for the floral petals. Just like so many PT stocks, it never fails to perform flawlessly! It still had plenty of firmness and stability. I was so happy with the result and felt confident that it would hold up to more, so I pulled and shaped and pulled some more on each petal then finally bent it to make it stand up. Wow, could you get any more aggressive with a text weight paper?? AND…………boy, did it ever hold up!

I stamped the same flourish onto a sheet of Leather White for a “base” layer and then put it through the same die cutting process. In between all of that, I die cut a layer of tulle, glued them all together and made on big puffy flower to add to my Plike base card.

Lastly, I die cut a scallop circle from tulle, glued that to the card with Fabri-Tac and added the flower. To finish things off, I added a small black flower and a pearl to the center of the flower.

I hope you enjoy the project and thanks for looking!!

Creatively yours,

Kathie McGuire
