Making good use of leftovers.

kbirthdayinvite_05_23_09

Leftovers get a bad rap, don’t you think?  Leftover Hamburger Helper is not a beautiful thing.  However, leftover pieces of pretty paper you can do amazing sometimes even better things with.

In case you haven’t picked up on this yet, Patricia is a big proponent of the green movement – recycle, repurpose, reuse.  With that in mind, I decided to take advantage of the goodness that was leftover from these birthday party invitations that I made for my daughter last weekend, and make a pretty/all-purpose card with what I had on-hand.

My base is BASIS magenta cardstock.  Now I will caution you – the picture at the Paper Temptress store is a little dark and this paper is brighter and more raspberry like you have seen from other paper manufacturers.  I have paired Papertrey’s Raspberry Fizz ribbon with this and it’s a great match – just to give you a better idea on the color.

The white that I am using is Laser White Glossy Lustre and you can really see the ridges and the sheen in my second card. Patricia used to always say that your ink floats to the top on this paper – I didn’t get it; now I do *wink*

You can sort of see it in my butterfly but the grey isn’t nearly as drab as it appears in the first card – for this is no ordinary grey, this is Silver Ore Glimmer!  The thing I love about grey is you can use it with anything, it’s a neutral like you would use your kraft cardstock – but with the glimmer, you’ve got a kicked-up neutral; love that!

One more thing I’d like to share – and Patricia has been very gracious to let me mention this here:  I have started my own digital stamp company:  Digiments.  Digital stamp sentiments (no images, just sentiments).  If you have ever thought about entering the digistamp world – I have a free Digiment over there every week for you to download and try.  The May release is there for you to view/order and the June release is coming up on June 13th – have a look!

More of my work can be found on my blog HERE.

Thanks for stopping in – and have a great week.

  • Love both of the cards and I so look forward to using that paper to see the effect.

Silly girl, this is what I say about this amazing cardstock…This Lustre line has a kind of holographic effect and the ink actually “slips below the surface and the gorgeous finish “floats” on the top and creates an almost 3D effect….Not that is floats to the top and I have ONLY been stamping on the laser silver lustre lately because it is so AMAZING looking. In fact I am getting ready to post a picture of a design I did this weekend that shows the effect but not near as well as it does in real life! This is the most amazing cardstock I have ever seen!!
