Vellum for balloons

Tomorrow is my first Grandson’s 4th bday. If you don’t know me well I have 4 grandbabies that are my world! The oldest is 4 so they are truly still babies. I am the luckiest woman on this earth!! Anyway I made this card for his bday. As everyone knows at that age they show their age by fingers hense the How many fingers are you by Inkainkado (isn’t it the cutest). He is also at the age when he sees a snail he has to pick it up and check it out. I am always telling him that they are alive and to be very careful but unfortunately he tries but not always successfully. Anyway the only reason I am posting this card is to show just how great the vellum looks as balloons. My camera is a very good camera as you can tell by all the specks under the green balloon (just a few specks got on the vellum tape but they show up pretty well in the picture), they really aren’t that obvious IRL. The party hats were cut out of the Laser Silver Lustre using Cuttlebug’s A2 Combo die – Celebrations. I love the dies but it is far from easy to put the die cuts in the embossing folder, if anyone out there knows the secret please email me at the address listed below so I can post it!!The balloons were cut out with Sizzix’s Balloons #1. The adorable little snail stamp is from DRS Designs. The card base is Heavenly White Premium Ultrasmooth Cardstock which Marianne tested at the copic certification class and she said it worked very well, but just to please all the copic addicts out there I have already had the Neehan Classic Cress Solar White Smooth cardstock shipped, it will be added to the store by the end of next week. This is the exact cardstock that Marianne recommends even though the Heavenly White worked very well. We all know that we are very loyal to a certain paper so I am going to carry them both.

I was very fortunate to attend Marianne’s copic certification class on Wednesday in San Francisco. I loved the class but have to be honest, the highlights of my day were meeting Teresa Momber the Illustrator of one of my favorite stamp sets Out West which is fabulous with both the Leather line and the Suede Touch, Cambria Turnbow (the owner of Our Craft Lounge, we could sooo hang out!), and Marianne (we all know who she is LOL). I was also thrilled to meet several other very creative artist including HS Kelly. It was just a great day and I highly recommend it. I wish it would have lasted a couple of days!! I am working on a California Stampers get together so if you live in California and would love to spend a day or so with very talented artists then email me and let me know that you are interested so I can keep you informed. I started this whole conversation to talk about vellum and copics. I had to idea that Marianne recommends vellum also for coloring with copics with a few restrictions. I was really surprised and will post more about it after a little research!!

  • I would LOVE for you to join us so I will put in my California get together
folder!! Yes Cambria and Marianne were there together, Marianne designs most of the stamps that Our Craft Lounge (Cambria is the owner)sells. I love their stamps and swear by the clear ones, love the packaging since the stamps are actually stored on a plastic sheet that already has the images printed on it. Really smart packaging IMO.

This is the cutest! And I know how you love your grandbabies! My kid is 12. I have a long wait (I hope) but am so looking forward to being a grandmama. And you lucky gal! I love Cami’s blog and I’m pretty sure she & Marianne are buds. I took the copic cert class with Marianne last year here in Seattle. I learned so much! And still with the copics the learning adventure is daily! Hey! I don’t live in CA but I’m still on the West coast! You wanna tell me a place close to you to stay I’ll fly down for a few days!
